Commentary Juan de la Cuesta's printing emblem (taken from Pedro de Madrigal) as appeared in 1605 and 1615 Don Quixote princeps editions and 1613 Novelas ejemplares first edition.
The emblem presents a lion asleep and a hawk surrounded by the quotation "Post tenebras spero lucem" (After darkness I hope for light); this Latin dictum appears in Job Book: XVII, 12 and don Quixote uses it in chapter 68, part II.
Notes 1 - Process reproduction after the original title page (Madrid: Juan de la Cuesta, 1613).
